You dont speak French?

"You dont speak French you have a French passport and you dont speak French!!"

That was the incredulous officer when I told him I dint speak french when he spoke to me in french which I've had happen before years ago. But this this man had to go and tell his colleague. And said this to me again as his colleague stamped my passport as I was entering Tunisia on my first holiday for 15 years. I did feel ashamed and very spotlighted my British passport carrying sister also felt the shame. 

I really did laugh afterwards but it was not funny when the que of people had to wait for him to stamp my passport and let me through.

I am never going to a French speaking country without learning the rudimentaries.

If you are also wandering. I never wanted to learn to speak French because my father and I did not see eye to eye. We made up luckily 5 years before he passed. 

I had a wonderful time despite this mainly because I was with my sister. In the past I ended up doing everything by myself and it was nice not to be alone.
